One in eight women in WV will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime; nearly every WV family is affected by the disease. The WV Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program (WVBCCSP), part of a national program established in 1991, provides free or low cost breast and cervical cancer screening uninsured and underinsured women who are eligible and enrolled in the program.
The WV Breast and Cervical Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment (D&T) Fund, established in 1996 by the WV Legislature, helps pay for further diagnostic and treatment services for women throughout West Virginia who otherwise would not be able to afford them. At that time the WV Legislature established the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation (GKVF-tax exempt number 556024430) in an effort to continue to provide financial assistance for these services. The Legislature requested that the partners raise money to supplement the D&T Fund.
One of our goals is to help support this program. To find out more visit the website http://www.wvdhhr.org/bccsp/
